RAIDERS EDGE FALCONS IN SENIOR BASKETBALL BATTLE FOR FIRST PLACEWith the season three quarters complete RCI is on top of the heap still undefeated as we head into the exam break. RCI edged Fellowes 51 - 47 in which could be a prelude to the finals. The game was very close in the first half as both teams were on their game. At the end of the first half the game was tied 25 - 25. The second half was a different story as Brady Windle as he has done most of the season took over with his scoring touch. Windle scored 9 points in the third quarter helping his team to a 10 point lead going into the last quarter. Fellowes' Brandon Mousseau tried to bring his Falcons back in the fourth quarter also scoring 9 points but it was to little to late. Top scorers for RCI Brady Windle with 15, Colton Nichol chipped in with 10. For Fellowes Brandon Mousseau scored 23, Nathan Hartwig chipped in with 9.-----If you look at most of the High School Sr. Boys Basketball teams in Renfrew County most of them have two or three excellent all-county stars on their starting lineup. Most of them can do major damage in any game. Not only do they have excellent ball handling skills, they also can shoot the lights out from any part of the floor. As mentioned, you take stars like RCI's Brady Windle and Colton Nichol, FHS's Brandon Mousseau and Nathan Hartwig, MVDHS's Lucas Yakabuskie and Jeremy Paplinski, MHS's Barry Lee, SJHS's Chris Ivory, ADHS's John Buffam, BSCHS's Mike Adibe, GPHS's Derek McGrath, OHS's Jason Crozier, and ESJL's Brody Godin. There are many many more who can easily be on this list. Can you image these players playing a game together against Lanark County All-stars.-----Wouldn't that be a treat to watch. I believe that this years Renfrew County Sr. Boys Basketball Champion will be the team that has the best supporting cast including bench strength.
